Verification of the authenticity of works of art

Verification of the authenticity of a work of art may pose significant difficulties even to experienced specialists. Sometimes internationally renowned auction houses sell certain pieces on the basis of erroneous expert opinions but cases of deliberate fraud and counterfeiting also occur. The most important feature of any work of art is its authenticity, so it does not pay to take risks here. You should make yourself acquainted with the terms and conditions of the auction well in advance and if you do purchase a piece of art it is advisable to be prepared legally in case it should prove to be fake.
